High Tension at Laser Fusion!

Boarders enjoyed themselves playing a tense game of high-tech tag at Laser Fusion on Sunday!  To earn points for 'zapping' and avoid losing any for being 'zapped' required a lot of stealthy manoeuvring around castle towers, up and down ramps and through mazes!

Chamber Choir Under the Stars

Chamber Choir has had a busy couple of weeks with invitations to sing in two splendid settings. Whilst singing literally under the stars to an audience of over 200 people in the Roman Baths, their voices carried on the night air out into the surrounding Abbey churchyard and passer-bys could also enjoy their performance!
This was followed closely by a trip to Oxford to sing during Evensong at Jesus College, Oxford.
What amazing experiences and rare opportunities for all involved!

Boarders' trampolining trip to Swindon proved as popular as ever!

Post Prep Fun and Games

Boarders met in the Sports Hall after prep on Friday evening for a range of games including bench ball and basket ball.  Lots of fun and laughter was had by all!

Dramatic Scenes

It’s that time of year again when A Level and GCSE students perform their devised assessments. We were treated to a wide range of different pieces which involved many Fonthill girls.  Many of the A Level pieces were particularly intense and, as a result of such impressive acting, the audience was left feeling either exhausted or emotionally drained!  Although asked to devise pieces in a specific style, students’ creativity is exceptional and the amount of hours put in to developing and rehearsing their work is eye-watering.  They all deserve to gain top grades.

 

Model United Nations Conference

Kingswood hosted another very successful Model United Nations conference last weekend with a Fonthill girl appointed as Secretary General.  After Freya's very impressive and considered speech during the opening ceremony, followed by a very thought provoking and engaging talk from former Kingswood student George Gabriel, Kingswood was buzzing with the sounds of student delegates debating a range of global issues.  It was lovely to see many sixth form Fonthill girls chairing committees including Human Rights, Nuclear Disarmament and Security, and a much larger than usual number of younger delegates involved in the conference.

 

Sleep-Out in aid of Julian House

Many congratulations to the small group of students and staff, including two Fonthill girls and a Fonthill tutor, who gave up the comfort and warmth of their own bed and joined over 150 other members of the public in Alice Park and spent the night with just sleeping bags and cardboard. They were taking part in the Big Bath Sleep-Out and raised much needed funds and awareness for homeless charity Julian House.  The event certainly gave them some insight into what it is like to sleep out for just one cold and wet night whilst supporting Julian House run its increasing number of various homeless projects.

Bake Off Success!

Fonthill's successful streak continued over the weekend as Menina and Alix won the Year 9 to 11 category of the Bake Off competition! Their melting iceberg was very appropriate for the theme of Sustainability and, according to 'Mary Berry' and 'Paul Hollywood', the sponge itself was light and airy, and much enjoyed after judging by all Fonthill boarders!
