Busy Bakers!

A team of Fonthill bakers made over 100 cup cakes to provide refreshments for our Open Morning visitors after their tour of the boarding house.  Decorations were different on each cake, making it difficult for some of the younger visitors to know which to choose but with such positive feedback from everyone we can safely assume they all tasted delicious!

Boarders go camping!

Year 9 and Year 12 boarders headed off to the Forest of Dean to enjoy a night under canvas and a range of activities including raft building, caving and climbing.
After pitching tents, (some more successfully and quicker than others!), students enjoyed a fantastic barbeque followed by lots of singing round the camp fire.  Campers woke early but despite the short night and cool temperatures were in good spirits for their fitness filled day ahead.  The weather was kind with blue skies and sunshine throughout the trip and much fun was had by all!

House Music Success!!

What a great start to the Autumn term for Fonthill girls and Hall boys by winning the annual House Music Competition!!  Hard work and focus by all throughout the day, led by Jess, Rory and their House prefects, definitely paid off! In addition to choosing a wonderfully upbeat song, "I'm a Believer", judges were impressed by their clear vocals and co-ordinated movements but what gave Fonthill and Hall the leading edge over other Houses was the enthusiasm and enjoyment - clearly evident in all these photos!

One of many rehearsals pre-competition!

Beautiful singing from Alice and Ellie for House Ensemble entry

Post competition boarder celebrations!
And birthday celebrations for Ritika and Tiva!

Congratulations to Emma and Jess!

Winners of this year's House awards go, coincidentally, to our outgoing and incoming Heads of House - Emma and Jess.

'Spirit of Fonthill' is given each year to a girl who embodies the spirit of our House through her positive attitude towards House and School life, showing kindness to others, volunteering to help peers and/or staff, or willingly offering to participate in House events.  It's the students' choice and this year it was lovely to see so many different people nominated across all year groups.  However, Emma won the majority of girls' votes, being described as 'always positive and happy', 'always around to talk to and been to support everybody's House matches' and 'always so enthusiastic about everything Fonthill' with 'boundless enthusiasm and positivity'.

'Wright Way' is for somebody who has trodden the right path and who goes that extra mile to help out; somebody who is pro-active, seeing what needs to be done before being asked, or somebody who acts with humility not seeking limelight.  It is always a hard decision for Fonthill tutors as there are so many girls this could apply to; however, this year, we awarded it to Jess who we feel embodies the description perfectly;  making a video for our fundraising assembly, or taking photos at multiple House and school events are just two examples of the many times she has worked hard behind the scenes without making any fanfare.

Many congratulations, Emma and Jess!!
